The Nine Quarter Circle operates just as it did over 100 years ago. The Indians once ran elk herds in the area Jim Bridger rode after buffalo on the plains, and Chief Joseph passed near the ranch on his retreat to Canada. Its rhythm is marked by generations of horses born and trained, of generations of families returning again and again, and of adventurers drawn to nearby Yellowstone National Park and the area’s great rivers for more than a century.
Unique Features: The 9 brand is one of the oldest, single digit brands still in use. A long history echoes through the Nine Quarter Circle. From the ancient peoples who hunted there for centuries to mountain men and members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition who explored Yellowstone more than 200 years ago.
Accommodations: Each cabin has a private bath, can vary in size from one to four bedrooms, and has a wood stove or fireplace to round out your Western vacation. You’ll feel so at home and well taken care of, you’ll hardly even notice there’s no TV, phone, fridge, or microwave. The one-bedroom cabins each has its own unique charm and personality. The two bedroom cabins sleep four to five people. Two cabin styles have different configurations, but either will let you cozy up by a wood burning stove’s chill removing warmth.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Multi Bedroom Cabins. Stay in “The Palace,” a four bedroom, three-bath cabin made for accommodating the largest groups, or “The Cupboard,” which is a lot bigger and nicer than its nickname suggests. Sleep up to 10 people in the same cabin. Enjoy plenty of privacy with private bedrooms and bathrooms. Most bedrooms have their own patio and private entrance.
Dining: Enjoy cooked-to-order breakfast from a wide variety of fresh and filling foods to start your day. Choose from eggs, breakfast meats, oatmeal, cereals, fruit, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and more. For lunch, guests are offered scrumptious soups and hearty, filling sandwiches, and to-die-for desserts. For dinner, guests will delight in hearty home cooking you would expect from a real dude ranch.
Activities: Montana horseback riding forms the backbone of your dude ranch experience. When you arrive, you’ll be matched with a horse that suits your abilities and riding style. By the end of the week, you’ll count that mount a trusted friend. If you’re a fisherman, Nine Quarter Circle’s on-site fishing is an angler’s dream, and the fishing opportunities nearby are nothing short of legendary.
Spa & Fitness: There is no on-site spa or fitness center, but with all of the amazing outdoor activities and fresh air though, you won’t need them. Ever swam in a pond that’s fed by a mountain stream? You couldn’t ask for a cooler, cleaner water source to make the perfect swimming hole. You’re in for a treat if you’re a hiker. The ranch is positioned a short drive away from trailheads in the stunning Madison and Gallatin Ranges.
Location: The ranch is located in the high country of the Montana Rockies alongside a swift mountain stream called the Taylor Fork of the Gallatin River. It is nestled amongst lodge pole pines overlooking the northwest corner of Yellowstone Park on the east slope of the Continental Divide. At 7,000 feet of elevation, surrounded by 2 million acres of wilderness, the ranch is an ideal place to experience a world of quiet reflection, tiny wildflowers and big wildlife.
Closest Airport: Bozeman, Montana is 63 miles away, or Billings, Montana is 205 miles away.
Children’s Programs: Yes. Even the littlest cowpokes at Nine Quarter Circle get to try their hand at horseback riding, hay rides, square dancing and more. You’ll enjoy watching your kids spread their wings, make new friends, and try out new activities that you may have a hard time believing, until you see it for yourself.

A company retreat or extended meeting may help you move toward your goals, and could give the potential for direction-changing insights and experiences.
Extra Info: Homesteaders settled the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch just outside Yellowstone National Park in the late 1800s as more people became drawn to the area. In 1912, the Butler family from Chicago consolidated early homesteads to create Nine Quarter Circle. The working horse ranch has welcomed travelers and introduced them to the ways of the West ever since.
