The timber frame structure located on the banks of the Kicking Horse river, was built with re-claimed Douglas-fir posts and beams.

Unique Features: The Columbia Icefields are the largest accumulation of snow and ice south of the Arctic Circle. This one-of-a-kind excursion will take you on an incredible journey from land to sky. Led by the Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre, you’ll travel to the largest glacier in North America with thrilling sights to see every step of the way.

These stand-alone luxury log cabins offer just the right amount of privacy along with exceptional views, amenities and plenty of open space. Take in the Canadian Rockies from your spacious private deck, go for a stroll down to the banks of Kicking Horse River, then snuggle up and listen to the crackle of your own wood-burning stone fireplace.

Dining: Exceptional accommodation pairs best with exceptional dining. Which is why this Rocky Mountain lodge proudly offers incredible cabins to stay in and a well-recognized restaurant to dine in: the Riverside Dining Room. Featuring fresh local ingredients and organic dishes, the food and drinks on the menu here are just as satisfying and just as beautiful as the Rocky Mountain setting they’re served within.

Activities: Ascend to one of Banff’s National Park’s greatest mountain viewpoints. The Lake Louise Sightseeing Gondola and Wildlife Interpretive Centre also offers a unique opportunity for guests to view Grizzly bears feeding on berries that grow on the ski runs below. Location: At Cathedral Mountain Lodge, your Rocky Mountain cabin lies perfectly between Yoho National Park and Lake Louise in Banff National Park, and right in the middle of everything the area has to offer. Waterfalls include Wapta Falls, on the Kicking Horse River, and towering Takakkaw Falls. A trail circles turquoise-coloured Emerald Lake, with a nearby natural stone bridge. The Lake O’Hara area contains alpine lakes, cliffs and wooded trails. Viewpoints overlook trains entering the Spiral Tunnels on Kicking Horse Pass.

Closest Airport: The nearest major airport is Calgary International Airport (YYC / CYYC) is 2 1/2 hours away. Another major airport is Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC / CYXC), which has domestic flights from Cranbrook, Canada and is 311 km from Field, Canada.

The 2.3 km hike to Wapta Falls has its own rewards along the way. But nothing compares to the unparalleled view of the vast wall of water diving into the river below.
