Sundance Trail is the smallest guest ranch in the Colorado Dude Ranch Association. This smaller size allows the ranch to be relaxed, flexible, and to truly connect with all the guests who visit. They are also open year-round. Summers most guests stay for an entire week, experiencing an entire range of activities and connecting as a family. In the fall, winter and spring, guests usually stay for a few days or a weekend, to experience quiet, play in the open spaces, take in the views and unplug, ride horses, and relax.
Unique Features: The area was first settled by loggers and ranchers around 1900, and some deserted homesteads are still strewn throughout the mountain landscape. The trading post and nearby restaurants provide visitors with all of the comforts of a fine vacation, a romantic getaway or a full week for the entire family. A gift shop is also tucked in the shadows of this scenic mountain community.
Accommodations: You will find your temporary home cozy and relaxing. The quaint and cozy dude ranch suites are all equipped with private baths, entrances, and decks. The Apache suite is private but centrally located. Situated directly off of the Main Lodge, this suite is close to the dining room and parlor, but offers a roomy porch and private entrance. While all of the lodging at Sundance Trail is pet-friendly, this suite is ideal for your canine family members! The entrance opens straight out into the front yard, allowing easy access for your pets.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Montana Cabin which is a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom space with separate living area. This cabin is perfect for larger families or reunions. Montana is situated on the west border of the property, giving you more privacy while still only a short walk from the Main Lodge and Recreation Barn. Both bathrooms offer shower/tub combos.
Dining: Whether it’s breakfast cookouts, steak barbecues, lunch on the trail or picnicking under the pines, meal time is special. The ranch serves up excellent fare. Meals are hearty western, served family style, with homemade breads and desserts, always delicious. Alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and spirits) are available by the bottle from their retail liquor store.
Activities: There are a lot of activities at Sundance Trail Guest Ranch. In addition to a complete dude ranch riding program, they offer a lively list of activities including something for everyone in an unstructured atmosphere. The wranglers will have you up in the saddle, and enjoying a ride in no time! Experienced river guides take guests on raft trips ranging from float trips to exceptional white water expeditions on the Cache La Poudre River.
