Nestled under the rimrock just outside Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Middle Creek Ranch invites visitors to an authentic Rocky Mountain experience. A family-owned, working ranch spanning 10,000 acres, Middle Creek Ranch beckons private groups, up to 20 people, to rest, play, and take in the extraordinary mountain air. Guests will have the entire property to themselves: a one-of-a-kind ranch vacation in the utmost seclusion.
Unique Features: The ranch story dates back to 1862 and Abraham Lincoln’s Homestead Act. The goal has been to instill healthy and sustainable land, wildlife and livestock management and ranching practices, while allowing family, friends, and guests to experience everything the ranch has to offer. With bison, cattle, horse, and hay operations, Middle Creek Ranch employs a year-round staff to manage commercial activities and maintain a full-sized riding arena, natural ponds, and a mile and a half of frontage on Trout Creek.
Accommodations: With classic log construction and a wraparound deck, the Main House boasts four bedrooms with king beds, each with its own en-suite bath with heated floors. Downstairs, kids love the four-bed children’s bunk room with its own bathroom, TV room and game table. With an outdoor hot tub, a gorgeous, airy living room with pitched ceiling, and views of nearby Steamboat Ski Resort, it’s a dreamy place to while away the hours. There are also a couple cozy cabins to choose from as well.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Cookhouse Cabin which sleeps up to six with a breathtaking view of the valley, framed by a beautiful rimrock formation. Each of the two bedrooms comes with its own en-suite bath with heated floors, and there are two additional beds in the upstairs loft. Curl up by the fireplace in the sitting room, enjoy an evening movie on TV, or relax on the front porch in the afternoon breeze, looking out over the swimming hole and animal pastures. Mini kitchen also provided.
Dining: Savor one-of-a-kind meals from a private chef, gather around the outdoor firepit with family and friends, and say goodnight in cabins that are as rustic as the Colorado countryside, but so thoughtfully designed, you might want to stay in bed for another hour or two.
Activities: With over 50 miles of wilderness trails, the ranch offers endless opportunities to explore the property, whether on horseback, mountain bike, or foot. On hot days, they point guests in the direction of the swimming hole, complete with sun deck, canoe, rope swing, and lawn games like horseshoes and corn hole. And when it snows, there’s cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and sledding at the ready, not to mention nearby Steamboat Springs, where they arrange downhill ski trips for guests.
Spa & Fitness: There is no on-site spa or fitness center.
Location: The ranch is conveniently located approximately 25 miles from downtown Steamboat Springs.
Closest Airport: 21 miles from the Hayden/Yampa Valley Regional Airport
Children’s Programs: No. Although they welcome your children, they do not have any supervised children’s programs.
Pet Friendly: No. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Weddings: Yes. This is a great place for a wedding.
Meetings: Yes. You can rent out the entire ranch for your meeting.
Extra Info: Both a private retreat and a wildlife refuge, Middle Creek Ranch boasts a rich Western history. Take in unbelievable views while horseback riding, hiking, fly-fishing or cross-country skiing, or let expert guides design a custom adventure for you. When you’re ready to relax, the hot tub on the sun deck is ready.
