Set among lush woods in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, the Lake Placid Lodge offers guests extraordinary accommodations. Private, warm and comfortable, the rooms and cabins are tucked beneath high swaying trees, truly providing a camp of one’s own. The Lodge accepts children of all ages; however, guests under 12 years old are not permitted to stay in the Main Lodge.
Unique Features: For the adventurous, the nearby Adirondack Park has 46 mountains over 4,000 feet high, 3,000 lakes and ponds and 30,000 miles of rivers and streams to explore. However, napping in the lean-to at the resort is also a very popular activity among guests. Whether you prefer to curl up in front of a fireplace or decide to hike one of the ancient Adirondack trails, each season offers an array of options.
Accommodations: There are 30 guest accommodations at Lake Placid Lodge, five in the Main Lodge, 17 cabins on the shore of the lake, six suites in the Lakeside Building, and two cottages, Pine and Birch, that overlook the lake and are just steps from the Main Lodge. Each space is thoughtfully appointed with soft fabrics, polished wood, stone fireplaces with stacks of logs and a hand-built, cloud-soft bed.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Whiteface Room. Whiteface is a grand and magnificent guest suite at the top of the Main Lodge. Featuring tall windows and a long, private covered balcony, the suite looks far out over the lake to the woods, mountains and sky beyond. Or choose the Lakefront Cabins. Each Lakefront Cabin feels like a private home in the woods, thick-walled and fire-lit.
Dining: Meals at Lake Placid Lodge delight the senses with its elegant ambiance, gracious service and exceptional Farm-to-Table cuisine that celebrates the culinary culture of the region. Start the day with the famous Lodge Breakfast at Artisans, mingle with friends old and new in Maggie’s Pub, or allow the lodge to create an exclusive private dining experience in the Wine Cellar.
Activities: There are an abundance of summer activities to enjoy in and around the lodge, though it’s perfectly ok to do nothing at all. Shady forests beckon, clear streams tumble along, and pristine trails meander toward the sky. Winter is also a very special time. The silent, snowy forest and the frozen lake make a magical landscape to explore on foot, skis or snowshoes.
Spa & Fitness: Indulge and relax with an in-room spa treatment exclusively for Lake Placid Lodge guests. The perfect complement to NY getaways at this stunning lakeside retreat, the Lodge’s extensive array of treatments are designed to invigorate the body, calm the mind and lift the spirits, all within the privacy of your guest room or cabin.
Location: Lake Placid is a village near the lake of the same name, in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains. It’s known as a Winter Olympics venue and a hub for snow sports and other outdoor pursuits. In the center of town, Mirror Lake has a trail around the shoreline. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum exhibits artifacts including team uniforms and medals. The Historical Society Depot Museum is in the old train station.
Closest Airport: The Saranac Lake Airport (SLK) is just 20 minutes away. 2 hours from Burlington International Airport (BTV), 2 hours from Albany Airport (ALB), 2.5 hours from Montreal, 4-5 hours from Boston, or 5 hours from New York City.
Children’s Programs: No, but, along with family-friendly activities like hiking, boating, and skiing, Lake Placid Lodge offers special family programming during the summer as well as vacation weeks. This romantic retreat celebrates the ancient beauty of the Adirondacks while providing unmatched service for your destination wedding. The rooms spill over with music, firelight, dancing and flowers. The peace of the North Woods blesses the ceremony and all who attend it.

It begins from the moment they welcome you and your guests into the fireplace-lit lobby with a glass of champagne, and continues through the near endless adventures that the Adirondacks have to offer. High-tech conference facilities and wooded serenity make the Lodge an ideal gathering place for distraction-free meetings.
Extra Info: Perhaps most famous for “The Miracle on Ice” in 1980 when the United States Hockey Team won the gold medal over the Soviet Union, the Olympic Center is now home to the Olympic Museum as well as four operational rinks for hockey, speed skating, and figure skating.
