The perfect vacation getaway for every guest, Wapiti Meadow Ranch is a welcoming guest ranch east of Cascade and McCall, in the Idaho backcountry. A spectacular flight or scenic drive brings guests to a home away from home in Idaho’s Salmon River Wilderness. At the ranch they offer comfortable private cabins, waters to delight experienced anglers (as well as novice fly fishermen and women), and trails that provide scenic vistas for riders, hikers, and mountain bikers.
Unique Features: The lodge is located adjacent to the largest Wilderness area in the Lower 48. This location offers both beginning and experienced fly fishing enthusiasts access to some of the best water in the headwaters of the legendary Salmon River system. The area is rich in history with the discovery of 6,000-year-old tools (in 1994). Experience Wapiti Meadow with the knowledge of human habitation in this area of Idaho for millennia. This is a major archaeological find.
Accommodations: You get much more than just a bedroom at the ranch. When you reserve one of the cabins, you get to enjoy your own stunning panoramic view of the timbered Salmon River Mountains and the magnificent Johnson Creek Valley. Each of the cabins is light and airy and has its own distinct ambiance. Carpeted and comfortably furnished, the cabins are electrically heated and boast functional wood-burning stoves that rest on a stone hearth. You will find your cabin scrupulously clean with decor that is warm and inviting.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Two-Bedroom Cabin which accommodates four with a queen room and a room with two twins. Each cabin has separate bedrooms, a modern bath, large living room, and a fully equipped kitchen to make your stay enjoyable. The living rooms in the cabins are furnished for relaxing with a sofa, easy chairs, and tables.
Dining: They are happy to provide you with a variety of dining and food options nearby. Each of the cabins has a fully equipped kitchen with a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, as well as utensils and equipment that are needed to prepare full meals. The dining tables are placed in front of picture windows that overlook the ranch. Some of these windows even have long meadow views of the tall peaks to the north of the valley. The porch on each cabin and picnic table on the lawn provides space for al fresco dining as well.
Activities: You’ll find miles upon miles of forest trails winding their way through the surrounding mountains. Guests with their own horses and mules can bring them to the lush pastures and corrals. The bike trails and old mining and logging roads that spider web the Johnson Creek Valley offer a variety of terrain and challenge for mountain bikers. Wonderfully remote abandoned wagon tracks provide for moderate to strenuous trails.
Spa & Fitness: There is no on-site spa or fitness center, but with all of the amazing outdoor activities and fresh air though, you won’t need them. Guests can also make use of the volleyball court or have some friendly competition at one of the horseshoe pits. In addition, they have antique croquet sets available for you to enjoy some time with your friends, family, or colleagues.
Location: The ranch is nestled in a lush green valley, secluded by towering timbered ridges. It is an oasis of backcountry luxury surrounded by National Forest. The River of No Return Wilderness and Some of the finest trout waters in the Intermountain Northwest are only feet away. Nine lakes accessed by foot or 4’x4′ trails provide opportunities to enjoy the alpine reaches of the spectacular Salmon River Mountains, as well as its stream valleys.
