Rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation are what The Swag is all about. Journey to this private mountaintop resort and you’ll find incomparable Smoky Mountain views, an award-winning restaurant, pampering accommodations, world-class hiking trails, and warm hospitality. Once you’ve arrived, there is little need to leave this 250 acre mountaintop hideaway until you depart. Your meals are provided. You’ll find plenty to do or enjoy doing nothing at all, on the spectacular grounds and common spaces.
Unique Features: The Smokies are one of the world’s oldest ranges, once soaring almost as high as the Himalayas. From the lawn, almost a mile high on the rim of the Cataloochee Divide, you can spot four of North Carolina’s six highest mountain ranges, all remnants of those ancient Everests. As the rocks eroded and history began to be written, the Cherokee hunted on the property and blazed the Cataloochee Divide Trail, which still runs behind the hideaway. Later settlers developed a distinct Appalachian culture and tradition that lives on to this day.
Accommodations: Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a private family retreat, or just to enjoy some time surrounded by nature, The Swag has the perfect lodging choice for you. Each of the 14 rooms at this all-inclusive mountaintop resort is individually decorated and furnished with amenities and special touches to make the most of your mountain getaway in North Carolina. Original artwork, rustic antiques, woven rugs and handmade quilts blend with the Smoky Mountain setting. Most rooms offer wood-burning fireplaces, steam showers and private balconies.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Woodshed. This luxurious log cottage includes a sitting room, stone fireplace, king size bed, steam shower, copper soaking tub, sauna, and outdoor shower. A covered stone porch with skylights, overlooks the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Room amenities include a wet bar, coffee maker, bean grinder and a small refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, trail mix and hiking bars.
Dining: Menus change daily, as produce deliveries from local farms guide the chefs’ creativity. Dining options allow you to take your culinary adventures on the road, as they prepare and pack you a picnic lunch to go. The full service breakfast is served in the Dining Room of the Main House six days of the week. Join everyone during the evening for a social hour of hors d’oeuvres on the front porch before the dinner bell rings and invites you to settle in for a four-course meal in the Swag House.

The Swag’s perch along a ridge line allows for hikes with stunning views, whether you want to spend a whole day on the trails or are up for just a short stroll.
