Redoubt Mountain Lodge is located on the glacier-fed waters of Crescent Lake in the heart of the Chigmit Mountains. Named for the 10,197 foot peak, Redoubt Volcano, in clear view only 8 miles away. The lodge offers a truly remote Alaskan experience. As a guest of the lodge, beautiful scenery, amazing wildlife and unforgettable adventures will fill each day. With a wide variety of activities including: hiking, kayaking, watersports, world-class fishing, photography bear viewing and exploring the surrounding area.
Unique Features: Redoubt Mountain Lodge is the only lodge and privately owned property on the 9-mile long, glacier-fed Crescent Lake. The surrounding 4.1 million acres is Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. The lodge sits in the heart of the 4, 5,000′ tall Chigmit Mountains, with clear views of the 10,197′ Mt. Redoubt 8-miles away.
Accommodations: Redoubt Mountain Lodge accommodates 12 overnight guests in 6 private log cabins. Each cabin includes: two comfortable beds, propane heating, shower/toilet/sink and views of the lake and mountains. Lodge amenities are more than comfortable with cozy furnishings, fireplace, Internet connection and satellite TV. A screened-in gazeebo hot tub and wood fired sauna are also on the property offering breathtaking views of Crescent Lake, Chigmit Mountains and a beautiful hanging glacier.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Log Cabins. All rooms are equally as nice. The authentic spruce log Main Lodge provides all the comforts of home. Lodge amenities are the perfect compliment to your daily Alaska adventures. Enjoy the lake side fire pit for evening bon fires and s’more roasting.
Dining: Redoubt Mountain Lodge provides a unique dining experience where the menu, service and ambience compliment each other to achieve perfect harmony. Dinners feature creations from freshly caught Alaskan Salmon and Halibut and the finest quality meats. Cedar plank Sockeye Salmon, prosciutto wrapped baked halibut, grilled filet mignon or rib-eye steak to name a few. Produce is flown in (almost daily) to ensure guests are receiving the freshest ingredients. Homemade baked breads, pastries and desserts are always available.
Activities: Redoubt Mountain Lodge prides itself on providing a phenomenal bear viewing experience for each guest. The bear viewing is done primarily from the safety of a boat allowing you to cover a wide area and view numerous bears throughout a single day. Rest assured you will be viewing these bears up close. In addition to motorized boats, RML has a fleet of single and double person kayaks available to paddle along the lake shore viewing bears and wildlife. Other activities include paddleboarding, water sports and helicopter adventures.
Spa & Fitness: There is no spa or fitness center. There is a hot tub and great wood fired sauna though.
Location: Crescent Lake, in the heart of the Chigmit Mountains, offers outstanding fishing and bear viewing opportunities for visitors. Sockeye and silver salmon run up the Crescent River each summer. Brown and black bears travel the shoreline of the lake and river in search of their next meal. Crescent Lake is a spectacular and wild place. It is also the park’s most visited destination and visitors should expect to see other people here.
Closest Airport: Crescent Lake is located in a roadless wilderness, so visitors arrive in small planes that land on the lake. Winter landings can take place on wheels, skis, or wheeled-skis depending on the snow and ice conditions. The fight from Anchorage, Kenai, or Homer is less than an hour. To begin your Alaskan adventure, you can book your flight into Anchorage (ANC – Ted Stevens International Airport). Redoubt Mtn. Lodge contracts services with professional air taxi companies for transportation to/from the lodge. Enjoy a scenic 70-minute flight from Anchorage.
Children’s Programs: No. Although they welcome your children, they do not have any supervised children’s programs.
Pet Friendly: No, unfortunately pets are not allowed.
Weddings: No, they don’t normally host weddings, although they may by special request.
Meetings: No, unfortunately, they simply don’t have the space to accommodate large groups.
Extra Info: RML has a high staff-to-guest ratio. RML accommodates 12-14 overnight guests tended to by 15 full-time staff. Overnight trips have one guide to every 2 to 3 guests. RML does not combine groups (unless guests request to do so). If you are a group of 2, you will have your own guide. The guides at RML provide in-depth instruction, area knowledge and extra care ensuring your comfort and enjoyment.
