Unique Features: Traveling by boat? They have a private marina where boaters can dock for their stay. Their own Mitchell Bay Coffee Shop is open daily offering an array of coffee beverages, local pastries, waffles, soups, and more. They also keep a gift shop well stocked with local goods for your cooking needs as well as clothing and gifts for your friends and family.

Accommodations: They offer one bedroom waterfront cabins, one and two bedroom waterfront suites and one and two bedroom waterview cabins. All of the accommodations are well appointed and extremely comfortable. With the expansive windows in the front, natural light floods the space and fully exposes the amazing views. In addition, full kitchens, flat screen TVs, dvd players, stereos, and gas grills are in each unit.

As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Waterfront Cabins which are less than 50 feet from the beach. The waterview cabins are immediately behind the waterfront cabins on a slight rise in a meadow and the suites are on the second floor of the main building. It is hard to say which has the best view; they are all amazing. On low tides, walk out to a small island in front of the resort. The large grass yard runs right next to the beach and is a great place to lay in the sun.

Dining: All cabins have kitchens. Mitchell Bay Coffee offers a full line of espresso options, Italian sodas, teas, cocoa, etc. They are proud to be serving Fidalgo Bay Coffee, roasted right in the Skagit Valley. They have fresh waffles every morning, local pastries, Umpqua Oats, and a daily soup. With seating for 10 and free wifi enjoy your coffee and snack on the waterfront.

Activities: From theater performances to weekly farmers markets, there is no end to the fun and unique events occurring in the San Juan Islands. Nearby Maya’s Legacy Whale Watching tours provides personalized eco-adventures to experience orca whales in the wild. San Juan Vineyards was planted in 1996; the old schoolhouse was renovated; and the journey began in developing San Juan Vineyards to be a destination winery producing wines that have received much acclaim.

Spa & Fitness: There is no spa but there is a fitness room for guests.

Location: Friday Harbor is a small town in San Juan County, Washington. The population was 2,162 at 2010 Census. Friday Harbor is the major commercial center of the San Juan Islands archipelago and is the county seat of San Juan County. In 1845 the Hudson’s Bay Company laid claim to San Juan Island. In 1850 they built a salmon curing station. The town’s name originates from Joseph Poalie Friday, a native Hawaiian. Friday worked at the Pugets Sound Agricultural Company’s Fort Cowlitz, from 1841 to 1859–60 and later moved north to San Juan Island, raising and herding sheep around the harbor.

Closest Airport: Friday Harbor Airport is a public use airport located just southwest of the town center of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in the U.S. state of Washington. It is owned by the Port of Friday Harbor.

Extra Info: Snug Harbor has been a hidden gem in Mitchell Bay on San Juan Island since the early 60s. The resort has been a preferred location of outdoor enthusiast for decades. Fishing and crabbing in the immediate area has always been fantastic, easily reached from the protected harbor of Mitchell Bay. The protected bay and proximity to areas offering easy harvesting of salmon, crab, clams, oysters, and seaweed made the location a natural gathering place.
