Singita Sabora Tented Camp charts a visionary new course for luxury adventures under canvas. A destination perfect for travellers yearning for an African safari infused with the continent’s contemporary energy and enveloped in unrivalled levels of comfort. It features mindfully created interiors with a rich combination of textures, forward-thinking and functional aesthetics, and a modern interpretation of the quintessential elements of a romantic tented safari.
Unique Features: Sabora Tented Camp is set in 350,000 acres of protected wilderness in Singita Grumeti, which provides guests with a front-row seat to some of the most prized game viewing on the continent, including the Great Migration. Offering superb game-viewing opportunities all year round, the camp is also set on the Great Wildebeest Migration route; and guided game walks on foot further enhance experiencing the Serengeti plains up close.
Accommodations: The camp has nine self-contained tented suites that all include private pantries, dining and fitness areas, as well as meditation decks, where guests can rest, relax and immerse themselves in wellness activities like outdoor yoga, while outdoor salas with secluded daybeds overlooking one of Sabora’s two waterholes make for uninterrupted game-viewing. There is a swimming pool in the main camp area.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Tent Suites. All accommodations are equally as nice. There is complimentary internet (WiFi) access, however due to the remote location of the lodge, the wireless connection can be slow and intermittent. Electricity power converters are available and hair dryers are supplied in each tent. Children aged 10 and over are welcome. All normal safari activities are tailor-made to suit each family.
Dining: Rates include delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, all drinks (including premium wines, spirits and liqueurs, but excluding French Champagne).
Activities: Singita’s twice-daily game drives present the opportunity for intimate connections with nature and discovering the raw beauty of the continent’s most magnificent creatures up close. From rolling grasslands where giraffe and elephant meander in peace to riverine woodlands where shy creatures suddenly appear from lush foliage; and from rocky outcrops favoured by big cats to hidden valleys where large herds of antelope roam and graze, each game drive traverses landscapes that are as rich in scenery as they are in wildlife.
Spa & Fitness: Offering the luxury of unfiltered time and space, the African wilderness is the ultimate setting for complete unwinding, while the continent’s healing energies are encapsulated in rituals that nourish and nurture. The dedicated treatments in the massage spaces tap into the profound benefits of indigenous wisdoms and essential oils that relax, replenish and revive. Each tailor-made therapy can be customised and timed to preference, ensuring a completely personalised experience.
Location: The Grumeti Game Reserve is found in Tanzania. It was established in 1993. This site is 411 km2. On the northwestern border of the famous Serengeti National Park, there is the Grumeti Game Reserve: a migration corridor for herds of animals that naturally pass through the area. This is where it is easy to see the movement of huge herds of wildebeest and zebra and this describes the Serengeti/Mara ecology itself.
Closest Airport: The Kilimanjaro International Airport in the north of the country is the closest for connections to the Grumeti Reserve, although you’ll need to take a domestic flight from all of the international airports to reach the Sasakwa Airstrip on the edge of the Serengeti National Park.
Children’s Programs: Although they welcome your children, they do not have any supervised children’s programs. All activities at the camp are tailored to specifically suit the interests of each family. In the interest of safety, children may participate in game drives and bush walks at the discretion of dedicated Field Guides. The camp also offers childminding services, as well as an array of activities to keep little ones engaged and entertained.
Pet Friendly: No, unfortunately pets are not allowed.
Weddings: No, they don’t normally host weddings, although they may by special request.
Meetings: No, unfortunately, they don’t have the facilities to handle large business meetings or conferences.
Extra Info: Each suite includes a private meditation deck, an outdoor sala with daybeds, a private fitness area, and a lifestyle unit with a perfectly curated in-room pantry and dining space. A unique ‘Guest Deli’ featuring wicker baskets and fridges filled with gourmet delights allows guests to pick and choose treats to enjoy in the privacy of their suites or picnic spots around the camp.
