The K-Diamond-K is a 1600 acre guest ranch located 125 miles North of Spokane in Eastern Washington. An additional 30,000 acres are leased for summer grazing. While at the ranch, you can relax, or join in and experience the many activities that make a ranch work. As a working cattle ranch, they are open all year. Calves and foals are born in the spring, hay harvesting is in the summer, feeding hay in the winter and timber harvesting as time permits. Roundups, fencing and maintenance are a part of the daily routine.
Unique Features: Experience an Old West Cattle Drive! This seasonal event of branding, doctoring, and moving cattle occurs in the spring, pushing cattle high into the mountains for summer grazing, and in the fall searching the hills to bring them home for winter calving. There’s a feeling that is like no other, just you and the horse underneath you.
Accommodations: Guests staying at the ranch love the 16,000 square foot log lodge. They offer 15 spacious and uniquely decorated guest rooms; each offering a private bathroom. Try The Wrangler Room. This ground level room offers: 1 Queen Bed, 1 Single Twin Bed, a Full Bath with a tub and a vanity. This room offers views to the south of the ranch. Rates include lodging in the Log Lodge, breakfast, lunch, dinner and use of all ranch facilities which includes horseback riding, campfires, wildlife viewing, biking, hiking, photography, as well as many other choices that you have to choose from.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the lodge rooms. All accommodations are equally as nice. Try the Lumberjack Room. This Second Level Room, which is access by stairs, offers: 1 Queen Bed and 2 Twin Beds, a Full Bath with a tub and a vanity and offers views to the east and north of the ranch. Along with the abundant wildlife, guests also enjoy watching the horses, cattle and llamas as they stroll through the ranch almost on a daily basis.
Dining: The fresh mountain air will give you an appetite for a hearty breakfast. For the late risers, you will always find a cheerful good morning in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and a pastry. Sack lunches can be provided for your morning horseback ride or they may bring lunch for you somewhere on the trail. There will be a time to rest the horses in a grassy meadow while you relax in the shade of a pine tree. Dinner at the ranch offers a variety of meals served family style with tender steaks, pastas, and creative specials by the chef.
Activities: Upon arrival guest are given a tour of the ranch by a team of Belgian draft horses pulling a 12 passenger wagon. There are miles of riding trails with a different scenic view on every ride. Riding lessons are given to guests upon arrival. With more than 70 horses, there is one for the beginner as well as the experienced rider. You will feel a certain thrill of seeing white tail deer, coyotes or wild turkeys at anytime on the trail or in front of the lodge. Back country trails and roads offer smooth pedaling for the adventurous mountain bikers.
Spa & Fitness: There is no on-site spa or fitness center, but with all of the amazing outdoor activities and fresh air though, you won’t need them. Hike through tall timber trails, grassy meadows and feel the grandeur of the valley below. There is an ever changing view with each foot step. See the wide variety of color in the flowers and landscape. You will be amazed how blue the sky can be.
Location: The K-Diamond-K ranch just a few miles south of the tiny town of Republic which is a city in Ferry County, Washington. The population was 1,073 at the 2010 census. It was the largest mining camp in the Republic Mining District, and home to the “Hot Air Line” railway. Republic was founded by gold prospectors in the late 19th century. Mining claims were first made along Eureka Creek on March 1, 1896, after the northern half of the Colville Indian Reservation was vacated.
Closest Airport: The nearest major airport is Trail Airport (YZZ). This airport has domestic flights from Trail, Canada and is 90 miles from the center of Republic, WA. Another major airport is West Kootenay Regional Airport (YCG / CYCG), which has domestic flights from Castlegar, Canada and is 97 miles from Republic, WA. Spokane, Washington is 125 miles away.
