The lovely Chevy Chase Cabins are located in Port Townsend, Washington. In addition to its natural scenery at the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula, the city is known for the many Victorian buildings remaining from its late 19th-century heyday, numerous annual cultural events, and as a maritime center for independent boatbuilders and related industries and crafts. The private sandy beach is a true gem, perfect for clam digging, campfires, picnics, long walks, dog swimming (people too!), castle-building, shell and sand dollar collecting, and naps in the sun.
Unique Features: The sign entering town calls Port Townsend a “Victorian Seaport and Arts Community.” Port Townsend is host to several annual events such as the Port Townsend Wooden Boat festival, Kinetic Skulpture Race, the Rhododendron Festival, Port Townsend Film Festival, and the annual blues and jazz festival. Boating and maritime life are central elements in this port town, with regattas, weekly races, and a multitude of recreational opportunities, including annual boating events such as the Race to Alaska and Seventy48.
Accommodations: There are seven well-appointed vacation cottages which are available for rent year round. Six of the cottages are clustered together on the main property with sweeping views of Discovery Bay and the Olympic Mountains. The seventh cabin sits across the street providing exclusive privacy, excellent for bird watching, facing an idyllic pond and pasture. The property is beautifully landscaped, the cabins are tastefully decorated and the beds are super comfy. Four of the cabins have fireplaces.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for Cabin 4 which is the quintessential Northwest getaway. Its cliffside perch offers sweeping views from the living room and bedroom, as well as a private deck to watch the sunset over Discovery Bay and the Olympic Mountains. This cabin features a full kitchen, living room, full bathroom, and a cozy king size bed.
Dining: Most of the cabins have kitchens. There are also many restaurants nearby. If you don’t want to cook but you also don’t want to leave the best view in town to go out for a meal, right, then call the local Wright Away Delivery! They work with a number of wonderful restaurants in town and will deliver meals to your door between 4pm-9pm. Make your order online or by phone directly with Wright Away, they have a wonderful website with participating restaurant menus. Then just sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy your view.
Activities: There is private beach access perfect for long walks, picnics, clamming and bonfires. There is a heated pool (seasonal), rustic tennis court, swings, basketball hoop and assorted games like croquet, bocce ball, shuffleboard, tetherball, and horseshoes. The property also sits across the street from Discovery Bay Golf Course, the oldest public golf course in Washington State.
Spa & Fitness: There is no on-site spa or fitness center, but with all of the amazing outdoor activities and fresh air though, you won’t need them. You will rarely encounter another soul on the sandy beach, and when the tides cooperate you can walk for miles. Discovery Bay is also lovely spot for kayaking and paddle-boarding.

The city has more than a dozen large, well-preserved buildings, including the Port Townsend Public Library (a 1913 Carnegie Library), the Federal Building (now commonly known as the city’s post office), the Rose Theatre, and the Elks Lodge, which now houses Silverwater Cafe.
