The Vee Bar guest and dude ranch located near Laramie Wyoming is a family-friendly vacation destination that is sure to please the horse loving cowboy or cowgirl in you. Activities center around western horseback riding and the Vee Bar claims one of the best horseback riding programs to be found at any guest ranch. Your experience will range from riding in the meadows to riding across the top of Sheep Mountain in the Medicine Bow National Forest. Scenic hiking is just minutes away with several well marked trail systems in the nearby Snowy Range mountains.
Unique Features: The main lodge was constructed in 1891. It soon became a stage coach stop and post office. More of it’s recent history includes being a buffalo ranch and a government school for boys. Lefty and Kelly added accommodations along the river, expanded the ranch to include a saloon, and an apartment-style house for a manager. Lefty and his late wife, Carla, have a total of three kids and seven grandkids, all of whom lived on a ranch about 10 miles from the Vee Bar. As the grandkids got old enough, almost all of them began working various jobs at the Vee Bar.
Accommodations: The Vee Bar has modern, yet rustic, cabins for your next Wyoming summer vacation. These cozy, comfortable cabins have decks and chairs just right for relaxing with a good book, daydreaming or visiting with new friends. Deer, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels wander the grounds among the cabins, and the peaceful sound of the Little Laramie River flowing just outside the cabins is the perfect nighttime lullaby. Whether you are looking for a romantic mountain getaway or a rough and tumble Wyoming summer vacation with your family, these warm and inviting cabins will suite you perfectly.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Ranch Cabins which are nestled among the trees farther away from the lodge. If you are looking for a little more privacy, these cabins are the way to go. One is near the fishing pond and the other two have lovely grassy meadows surrounding them. These cabins are either one or two-stories. Each of them comfortably sleeps five to seven people and has a gas fireplace to take the chill out of the air. Two of these three cabins were original structures on the ranch.
Dining: Naturally, breakfasts are included with your B&B stay. But you can also treat yourself to a tasty dinner. Bed and breakfast dining includes breakfast buffets featuring fresh fruit, homemade breakfast breads and muffins, sunflower seed bread for toast and more! During the summer guest ranch season, buffet meals are served three times a day at 8 am, noon, and 7 pm, after cocktails at 6pm in the John Wayne Saloon. Every “home cooked meal from scratch” is prepared by our guest ranch chefs and served in the historic main lodge dining room near the large river rock fireplace.
Activities: The Vee Bar offers many exciting family oriented guest ranch activities including horseback riding, hiking, excellent fly fishing, hayrides, trap shooting, archery, camping, herding cattle, and river tubing, and more! The Vee Bar’s horseback riding program is second to none. You will be matched with one horse for the duration of your stay. The Little Laramie River flows through the Vee Bar, and fishing on the Vee Bar’s private property is saved exclusively for Vee Bar dude ranch guests. The river is swarming with Brown and Brook Trout.
Spa & Fitness: There is no spa or fitness center at the ranch.
