Nestled on the banks of the Rogue River, the dream was to create a place where people could escape to serenity, peace, share in good food and company while retiring to warmth, rest and comfort. Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge is a special kind of place. It is one rarely found in today’s world: a Four-Star lodge which combines the comforts of a first-class resort with the congeniality of a small hideaway. At the lodge you will find a relaxed atmosphere, warm hospitality and cordial personal attention.
Unique Features: May through October, jet boat rides are a popular experience for many guests and a unique way to enjoy the splendor of the lower Rogue. The river has been a protected wilderness area since 1968. Rogue River Mail Boats (established 1895) and Jerry’s Rogue Jets (established 1958) have combined to offer three different length trips. Their Special Use Permits allow their vessels to travel as far as fifty two miles upriver. The unspoiled beauty, abundant wildlife, whitewater rapids and fun loving drivers, steeped in lore, make for a memorable day.
Accommodations: The sixteen guest rooms and two suites mirror the immaculate condition and low-keyed elegance of the main lodge. Try the Chinook Suite. Named after the king of salmon this suite has a regal feel, tailored and restful. The outdoors are intentionally invited inside, as the raised king bedroom area opens up to the rest of the suite and its expansive picture windows. A detailed kitchen with granite and cherry wood finishes, cast-iron fireplace, and television, help round out the creature comforts. Add the downriver view, private cedar deck with patio furnishings, barbeque, covered soaking tub and outdoor shower, it’s easy to see why guests don’t want to leave.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Osprey Bend House. Steeped in luxury, this guest house has the most spectacular river views of any Tu Tu’ Tun accommodation. Cedar ceiling, maple doors, Myrtle wood floors and custom cherry cabinetry echo the bounty of Oregon’s woods in the craftsman inspired interior. Hand-built details are found in the three king bedrooms, each with their own tile bath. The large gourmet kitchen has pounded copper sinks and exquisite granite counters.
Dining: For many guests, the meals and relaxed serving style highlight their stays. Whether gazing at the river over breakfast or mingling on the terrace with hors d’oeuvre before dinner, comfort food with a gourmet twist and a graceful setting are a perfect match. The prix fixe dinner, featuring four seated courses, is a visual feast featuring the Chef’s special touches. Fresh local greens, berries and wild mushrooms abound. Grilled Chinook salmon, ranch-to-table Wagyu and the famous popovers.
Activities: Whether hiking on the edge, combing the beach, reeling in a salmon or serenely sitting by the river, nature is the focal point. Beginning in January through March, winter steelhead are the challenge. A sport fisherman’s dream, these feisty fish from eight to twelve pounds can be landed from a boat or the bank. Single or double sea kayaks are available. Novice to nautically inclined, both options are an easy way to view the resident birdlife and water critters and get a little wet!
Spa & Fitness: Pamper yourself or your sweetheart! Let the helpful staff make arrangements or take advance orders for what suits you best. Try a blend of Asian healing arts with a Swedish touch. The Classic Lodge Facial is fantastic. It is European influenced, luxurious, and rejuvenating. Or, try the Exfoliating Body Scrub which is all-natural walnut and almond beads, with moisturizing Vitamin-E.
Location: The lodge is located in the rural southwest corner of Oregon, 40 miles from the California border. Situated on a wooded stretch of the engaging Rogue River, it is just 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Gold Beach is a city in Curry County. The population was 2,241 at the 2020 census.
