Tikchik Narrows Lodge is located in the Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska in the 1.5 million acre Wood-Tikchik State Park. The sportfishing opportunities in the area are truly mind boggling. Bristol Bay is often referred to as the “Salmon factory of the world.” The Bay offers five species of Salmon: King, Sockeye, Chum, Pink and Silver Salmon along with 7 species of fresh water fish: Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Arctic Grayling, Dolly Varden, Lake Trout and Northern Pike.
Unique Features: This area is only accessible by float plane and is over 300 miles from the nearest connecting roads system. Unlike most other Alaskan Lodges, Tikchik Narrows Lodge is totally isolated. They are not located in a town or village. The only neighbors are the fish and wildlife. The lodge is only 310 feet above sea level and Nuyukuk Lake is 24 miles long and over 900 feet in depth.
Accommodations: There are 7 duplex guest cabins all located on the lake shore overlooking Nuyukuk Lake and the Kilbuck mountains of Bristol Bay to the west. Each room has a full private bath, independent heat and hot water, lots of closet space and shelving, and large picture windows looking out to the lake and mountains. They provide daily housekeeping and laundry services are available upon request. All of the guest cabins offer a comfortable environment to rest after a wonderful day of Alaska fishing and adventure.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the cabins. All rooms are equally as nice. The Main Lodge has large comfortable lounging areas with a natural stone fireplace and a unique circular dining room which is suspended above the lake. Both the Main Lodge and dining room are enclosed by large picture windows, which offer a spectacular panoramic view to take in while enjoying the gourmet meals. There is a full service bar and a large deck overlooking the Narrows where you can fish right in front of the lodge.
Dining: Meals at Tikchik reflect the best of Pacific Northwest cuisine with an Alaskan flare. The gourmet dinners feature Alaska king crab, filet mignon, halibut, a selection of Alaskan fresh fish and shellfish, New York steaks and duck. They serve freshly baked breads, pastries and desserts. The produce is flown in weekly and is supplemented by their own greenhouse to provide fresh, crisp salads, herbs and vegetables. Dining at Tikchik is far and above what most anglers would associate with a fishing lodge, let alone a lodge as remote as Tikchik.
Activities: The fishing program at the lodge provides a perfect combination of water to accommodate both fly fishing and spin fishing. There are rivers in Bristol Bay that are fly fishing only and rivers that are more suitable for spin fishing and using bait casting rods for King Salmon. The daily fishing schedule allows you to maximize your time fishing these waters. They fish the entire western half of Bristol Bay which includes the Nushagak River drainage, Wood River Lakes system, Togiak River drainage, Kulukak River, Tikchik Lakes and some Iliamna water.
Spa & Fitness: There is no spa or fitness center on the property.
Location: Bordering the State Park to the west is the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge which encompasses 4.7 million acres of land. The Wood-Tikchik system contains 13 major lakes which stack one above the other. The western edge of the lakes extend into beautiful fjords into the rugged Kilbuck Mountains. Togiak Wildlife Refuge contains 3 major river systems draining the Kilbuck Mountains to the southwest. You should plan on traveling to Anchorage, Alaska on the Friday before your Saturday Chartered flight to Dillingham, Alaska, on Ravn Air.
