The Ranch is more than a resort, it’s a retreat. It’s not only exercise, it’s a lifestyle. It’s fellowship that leads to friendship. Rancho La Puerta’s 4,000 acres include 40 miles of hiking trails, 32 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, and an organic farm with a cooking school. There are eleven gyms, four pools, a running track, as well as tennis, Pickleball, basketball and volleyball courts. There are three full-service holistic spas. As you walk winding brick paths, you’ll happen upon a wine bar, juice bar or art studio.
Unique Features: The farm is a vibrant tapestry of orchards, intensively planted raised beds, and herbs, all of them managed via the organic and sustainable practices that have guided us since 1940. There are countless indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, as well as WiFi lounges for dedicated screen time. As you wander further, you’ll discover a labyrinth, reflexology path and three dozen hammocks slung between the oaks.
Accommodations: Dwell in beauty and privacy in one of the 86 casitas tucked away in luxuriant grounds. Each has a distinct personality and architectural flair. You’ll be welcomed with wood beamed ceilings, sweeping archways, hand-painted tiles and museum-quality folk art. All accommodations have attached patios enveloped in nature. Most have fireplaces, a hallmark feature at The Ranch. While casita means “little house” in Spanish, many of the lodgings exceed 1,000 square feet with space for relaxing, writing and reflecting.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Cielo Terra Casita which is bathed in shades of warm terracotta, and is designed to nourish the mind, body, and spirit. Cielo Terra features a terraced master suite, that overlooks a spacious living room. The artisanal décor, which embraces the earthy hues of terracotta, captures the spirit of Mexico. Lush gardens and the private patios feature mountain views, an outdoor shower, a dipping pool, day beds and a hammock.
Dining: Rancho La Puerta is renowned for freshly picked produce and nutritious natural foods. They have developed, tested, and proven hundreds of recipes since 1940. Over eighty years of culinary creativity, experimentation and dietary research have culminated in a superb all-natural diet. The fresh lacto-ovo cuisine provides protein, vitamins, minerals, and probiotics. It is low in fat, sodium, and refined flour and sugar, while high in energy, fiber, and complex carbohydrates.
Activities: Challenge your body in fitness classes. Trek majestic mountain trails. Try a new sport. Splash in sparkly, warm waters. Learn the latest in health, psychology, science, culture and cuisine. Sink into a guided meditation, art class or chamber concert. Rest in the serenity of the legendary spas. All hikes and trail runs are guided and traverse various areas of the massive 4,000-acre property, from meadows and stream-sides to high up into the boulder-garden foothills of Mt. Kuchumaa, where the red-tails and ravens soar.
Spa & Fitness: Nurture your mind, body and spirit with Rancho La Puerta’s private healing sessions. From Craniosacral Therapy and Chiropractic services to Feldenkrais, Acupuncture, Reiki, WATSU, and Water Dance, the therapists are highly skilled masters, the finest in their fields. Regular massage increases circulation, eases tension, tones muscles, and contributes to total well being. Recommended by Hippocrates as early as 400 bc, massage has long been recognized as an important adjunct to healing.
