Costanoa is an eco-adventure resort where guests can simply retreat from the chaos of everyday life and discover the pace of nature. The resort is committed to providing California coastal cuisine, as well as a variety of spa and adventure activities using sustainable methods to create a quality experience for guests in a natural environment. The distinctive Tent Bungalows combine the best part of camping with creature comforts you will appreciate. No two bungalows are exactly alike as they are placed throughout the property with a variety of layouts and views.
Unique Features: Costanoa enjoys an unusually temperate climate, nestled in the middle of a “banana belt” between Año Nuevo and Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Long-time residents and generations of farmers say that they enjoy 30 to 40 more days of sunshine per year here than at points north and south. With the ocean and air at about the same temperature year-round, flora and fauna thrive in the area.
Accommodations: Surrounded by acres of undisturbed wilderness, rolling coastal hills, and secluded beaches, Costanoa invites you to explore the extraordinary beauty of California’s scenic coast with a variety of accommodation options from lodge rooms to cabins to tent bungalows to a scenic RV campground. There are cabins with views of the Chalk Hill Mountains and Ohlone Ridge or Franklin Point. All cabins have access to the Comfort Stations with restrooms, indoor hot showers, heated concrete floors, a 24-hour dry sauna, and outdoor fireplace.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Douglas Fir Cabins. With either a king, two double beds, or two double beds with 1/2 bath (toilet & sink). Limited availability. These duplex cabins have a common front porch and private back deck.
Dining: The resort has the Cascade Restaurant and Bar as well as the Pine Tent which is a seasonal destination for open air, fast casual dining located in the center of the property. Pine Tent features an open kitchen and a covered bar surrounded by the large outdoor deck with frequent live music. The adjacent Pine Tent lounge is a great place to play games, relax and congregate in a communal space.
Activities: From endless hiking and biking trails, kayaking, horseback riding, or taking a yoga class, Costanoa has an adventure for everyone. Beyond the physical exploration, they offer educational wildlife programming such as guided bird-watching tours, trail camera lectures and falconry presentations. From stargazing, tie-dye workshops, and wine tasting events, the resort provides guests of all ages with many ways to discover the pace of nature.
Spa & Fitness: Discover the relaxing Pace of Nature with one of Costanoa’s Integrative Massages. Supplement any of the therapies with Aromatherapy, Deep Tissue and/or Arnica treatments to help you unwind, revitalize and relieve those aching muscles after that long hike, bike or horseback ride. The Costanoa Integrative Massage integrates Swedish, Esalen and various other modalities with the focus customized to your body’s specific needs.
Location: Located along the pristine coast of California’s scenic Highway 1. Coastanoa is just one hour south of San Francisco. The lodge and camp overlook a spectacular stretch of rugged bluffs and secluded panoramic beaches. Just moments to the south lies Año Nuevo, the nation’s largest Elephant Seal rookery, to the east stand the majestic redwoods of Big Basin State Park, and to the north the lighthouse at Pigeon Point towers gracefully over fields of pumpkins, artichokes and wild berries.
Closest Airport: The nearest airport to Pescadero is San Francisco (SFO) Airport which is 25.3 miles away. Other nearby airports include San Jose (SJC) (26.3 miles), Oakland (OAK) (33.4 miles) and Sacramento (SMF) (109.2 miles).
Children’s Programs: Yes. They are excited to invite young guests to discover the pace of nature. Every day they offer facilitated activities for younger Costanoa Campers. They highly encourage advanced reservations as these activities sell out on a regular basis. Enjoy introductory 15-minute led rides on their exclusive Ocean View trails. Open to ages 5-12. Offered daily, contact the Activities Department for advanced reservations.
Pet Friendly: Yes. Due to the proximity to State Parks as well as sensitive habitats, they have a very specific policy regarding dogs on property. Dogs are allowed only for guests who are staying in Recreational Vehicle sites. This does not include guests at Pitch Your Own Tent Sites. They also have 4 Coastal Cabin standard Pet Friendly accommodations and 2 Campground Cabins.
Weddings: Yes. With direct ocean views, the Seaview Bluff is an exquisite venue for cocktail receptions, dinners, picnics, or weddings. Inviting your guests to a ocean view private event on the Pescadero Deck at sunset is the perfect start to a wedding weekend.
Meetings: Yes. Each of the meeting rooms and outdoor group spaces have been designed to highlight the natural setting of Costanoa and make the perfect environment for your retreat. The culinary team specializes in preparing and presenting cuisine that highlights the locally grown produce and adheres to the guidelines of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Sustainable Seafood List.
Extra Info: Costanoa lies at the center of one of the most ruggedly beautiful and spacious stretches of California’s coast. Here you’ll find no boundary between nature and the Costanoa base camp. The local wildlife, including many rare and endangered species, vastly outnumbers humans.
