Welcome to the CM Ranch, an historic dude ranch, specializing in summer vacations since 1927. The CM is located in a secluded valley in the Wind River Mountain Range. The ranch’s proximity to Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming make it an ideal destination to hang your hat and get acquainted with the beautiful, wild West. The friendly environment at the CM creates plenty of fun for all ages. Generations come together through a variety of activities.
Unique Features: The CM is made up of 3,379 deeded acres, plus another 9,385 acres leased. That gives them a total of almost 13,000 acres, which makes for plenty of elbow room! Hike to glacial lakes and top mountain vistas. Prepare yourself for the picturesque views that can soften even the most ironclad of hearts.
Accommodations: Choose from a variety of log cabins or log homes. The Dining cabins are located across the large, expansive lawn and tree-covered area that faces the dining room. The Hill cabins are located on a small rise and have nice views from their porches. The logs for the ranch buildings were cut in the upper Jakey’s Fork canyon in the 1920s, and hauled to the ranch by teams of horses and wagons. Several of the old wagons are still on the ranch property. The charming old buildings are spaced along the stream and around large, well-kept lawns.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Log Homes. Above the main ranch, in the canyon, are three attractive log houses which are also available as guest accommodations. The Greer House, has three bedrooms, two baths, a large living room with a fireplace, and a terrace with a lovely view. Baker House has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large living room with a river rock fireplace, and a cheery sun porch. Hardie House has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large combination living room with a wood stove.
Dining: Fresh ingredients combined with talented chefs, and a down home environment, provide a pleasant dining experience for guests. Meals range from outdoor, campfire cooking to traditional hearty dinners served family style in the dining room. Start your day with a hot breakfast and eggs made to order or fruit and pastries from the breakfast bar. There are always excellent choices on the lunch buffet. You are more than welcome to bring your drink of choice to dinner and special diets can be accommodated with advance notice.
Activities: During your stay at the CM Ranch you can ride, fish, hike, swim, enjoy a massage, participate in activities, or relax with your book, as you please. Evenings can be spent with others at square dances, rodeos and cookouts. Play softball, horseshoes or volleyball on the lawn, or ping pong and card games in the Round up. You and your family can also enjoy our pool and relaxing hot tub. It is not necessary to know how to ride before coming to the ranch. It takes but a short time to learn, and excellent instruction is provided as needed.
Spa & Fitness: There is no spa or fitness center but there are plenty of fitness options such as hiking. The diverse terrain of the area surrounding the CM Ranch allows for hiking from an easy trek to an all day adventure. Leaving straight from the ranch hikers can access unique areas such as Jakey’s Fork Falls or Crystal Cave. The main trailhead leading into the Fitzpatrick Wilderness is just a short drive away.
Location: An altitude of 7000 feet provides the CM with a climate ideally suited to summer vacations, and eliminates poisonous snakes and plants. The canyon is below the mountain storms that follow the Continental Divide, so sunshine predominates, rainfall is light, and the humidity is low. Daytime temperatures are comfortably warm, and nights are cool enough to make wool blankets and sweaters feel welcome. Dubois, Wyoming is a quaint western town 6 miles from the ranch. Summer in Dubois is exciting and there are many activities designed with dudes in mind, including a weekly rodeo and square dance.
