Unique Features: Find 20 miles of classic and diagonal stride cross-country ski trails in the Blue Hills, only 25 minutes away. Bring your own xc ski equipment. No-wait downhill skiing is enjoyed at Christie Mountain, also a 25 minute drive away, with rental equipment available there.
Accommodations: There are 23 cozy lodging options designed just for the two of you. Whether you choose the intimate charm of a room, the more private elegance of a cottage, or the legendary luxuries of Edgewood, excellence awaits you. Cottages offer extreme privacy; choose stand-alone or duplex-style. All accommodations are fully outfitted with fireplace, private deck, King bed, whirlpool-for-two and mini-fridge.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Edgewood Villa with sweeping views of the private nature preserve and glacially-carved lake. The great room features unique stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, wraparound private deck and writing desk. The bedroom boasts two-sided fireplace, charming window seat, and en-suite featuring two-person whirlpool.
Dining: Breakfast and lunch menus provide delicious options for any appetite, including Wisconsin cheeses, of course, with delivery ’til 1:00p. A wide-ranging selection of New World and French vintages are available for delivery right to your cottage, along with classic Midwest-brewed beers. Also enjoy the Chef’s delicious dinners delivered to you. Thursday thru Monday evenings. In-room dinner features three entrée choices each night.
Activities: The list of summertime activities is nearly endless. Hiking, running or walking on miles of trails; canoeing and kayaking; swimming; fishing; biking; exploring the gardens. Golfing is right nearby, and area fishing guides are available. They maintain a fleet of canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. In Winter there’s snowshoeing on-site, plus cross country and downhill skiing not far away, and you can even try your hand at ice fishing.
Spa & Fitness: Set up an in-room one-hour Relaxation Massage with a licensed therapist who will come right to your Canoe Bay accommodation. Advance booking required for this service, either “Single” or “Couple’s” Massage. The fitness center offers treadmills, elliptical trainers, spin bike and multi-stack weight system.
Location: Canoe Bay hotel is a 300-acre country estate with three private, spring-fed lakes, located in northwestern Wisconsin, off of U.S. Hwy. 53, just outside the town of Chetek. An ideal drive-to destination, the resort is just 2 hours from Minneapolis, 5 hours from Des Moines, 6 from Chicago, 8.25 from Kansas City.
Closest Airport: Minneapolis/St.Paul International Airport (MSP) is just a 2-hour drive (120 miles). For guests connecting in Chicago, United Airlines offers non-stop service from O’Hare to Chippewa Valley Airport (EAU), an hour from us. Private planes should head to the Rice Lake Airport (RIE), 25 minutes away.
