Unique Features: The Blacktail is rich in archeological sites including an extensive cave system dating back to the last Ice Age, a Sun Wheel, a Medicine Wheel and numerous tipi rings from the more recent Native Americans. As part of your stay at the Blacktail Ranch, they’ll take you out for fantastic Montana cave tours along with visits to other historic sites. You’ll also enjoy our on-site museum which houses artifacts from the cave and early pioneering days.
Accommodations: Lodging with the all-inclusive packages range from luxurious to rustic. Guests can stay in the main lodge or in one of four cabins. The main lodge, built in 1928, is the center of the Blacktail Ranch and retains the rustic beauty and warmth of a traditional western lodge. There are seven guest rooms and a full bathroom on the second floor. Each bedroom is simply furnished with beds, closets to hang your gear, bureaus for storing and a nightstand with reading lights. The guest capacity of the main lodge is 17.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Raymer Cabin which is great for a big group. It has two bedrooms, each furnished with a queen size bed, and a sleeping loft above the living room with two twin beds and a double bed. The Raymer cabin has a bright and spacious living area with high ceilings, lots of windows and a large deck equipped with lounge chairs and a terrific view. There are two full bathrooms, a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Raymer Cabin can sleep 8 and is great for families or small groups.
Dining: The Blacktail Ranch Kitchen is the heart of the ranch. You will soon discover that Blacktail’s dude ranch meals are some of the most memorable parts of your stay. They take pride in serving local and fresh food whenever possible. They use tender, lean grass fed beef from their own herd, locally raised poultry, fresh fish, lots of vegetables and fruits, freshly baked bread and deserts of all kinds, all the good food you can eat is included in your all-inclusive vacation.
Activities: Blacktail Ranch specializes in outdoor fun. Your family or group’s Montana dude ranch vacation will be memorable for the variety of activities that they offer, including horseback riding, fly fishing, bird watching, river rafting, hiking, cave exploring, and, yes, even yoga. All ages and experience levels are accommodated for some of the finest horseback riding in western Montana. Two nearby rivers offer premier river rafting and Blue Ribbon fly fishing, and many more fishing opportunities can be found in the smaller waters of the area.
Spa & Fitness: There is no on-site spa or fitness center, but with all of the amazing outdoor activities and fresh air though, you won’t need them.
Location: The ranch is conveniently located between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks and Great Falls and Helena, Montana. The ranch is surrounded by mountains, fields and forests with a clear sparkling river running through it and is located 65 miles south of Great Falls, and 55 miles northwest of Helena. Glacier and Yellowstone national Parks are both a half-day drive away.
Closest Airport: Most guests fly into Great Falls, which is serviced by Delta, Alaska Air, Allegiant and United Airlines. They are 65 miles from Great Falls and transportation to and from the airport is included in your rate If you choose to arrive into Helena airport, they will pick you up for an additional fee.
Children’s Programs: No. Although they welcome your children, they do not have any supervised children’s programs.
Pet Friendly: No. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
Weddings: No. They do not normally host weddings but they may by special request.
Meetings: No. They do not have the facilities to host large business meetings.
