Basecamp South Lake Tahoe, the original Basecamp hotel, is built for exploring the incredible lakes, trails, and mountains in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The accommodations are located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, a short 5 minute walk to the lake and an even shorter 4 minute walk to the Heavenly Gondola. The 73 stylish rooms are designed for adventure and relaxation seekers alike, with the amenities and style of a modern resort, but at more affordable motel prices.
Unique Features: Located at Basecamp, the Beer Garden is open year round and hosts South Of North Brewing Co. It’s the perfect spot to relax with family and friends, enjoy great house made food, craft beers and live music nightly. The Beer Garden includes fire pits to lounge and meet others while toasting S’mores and enjoying some table tennis. Corn Hole Bean Bag Toss and other games for fun to be had by all.
Accommodations: A wide variety of super cozy rustic chic rooms are available. The King Balcony is a spacious room that has a king bed and a private balcony with two Adirondack chairs. The special Basecamp décor provides a modern feel with a rustic edge. These rooms are on the second or third floor. Built for sharing, the Family room has two queen beds with two twin sized loft bunks overhead. This can sleep four in separate beds, or 6 people if your budget is tight. These rooms are on the second and third floors.
As Suite As It Gets: When money is no object, go for the Mountain View Suite. This large room features a queen size bed along with a sofabed. The microwave and refrigerator help to make this room extra convenient, and the bathtub makes it extra relaxing. This room is on the second floor. Or choose the Great Outdoors Room. Love camping, but don’t want to risk the weather or wildlife? This room is for you! You’ll get the feeling of camping outside while being inside with your own bathroom and a king bed. Complete with tent, faux fire pit, and glowing stars.
Dining: Continental breakfast offerings are served in the lobby. The Hideaway Bar located in the lobby and exclusively for guests when the Beer Garden gets too busy. They also host a daily Happy Camper Hour from 6pm-8pm daily with specials on craft beers. The Beer Garden bigger bar is open to the public and serving all the decks and courtyards.
Activities: They partner with local activity guides to provide you with a link to the best area hikes, rides, and more. You can add these activities to any room booking after selecting your dates and room type to create a custom package experience. Explore the only undeveloped side of Lake Tahoe by paddleboard, The East Shore! Paddle along the coastline and soak up the incredible views of the Sierra Crest with a knowledgeable guide.
Spa & Fitness: There is a large 16-person hot tub. There is no spa or fitness center but with all the awesome things to do you won’t need a fitness center.
